Connections

One of the great things that comes from blogging is making contact and sharing your work with others - seeing ideas from creative people all over the world. Recently, out of the blue, the owner of The Richmond House Boutique Bed and Breakfast in Chichester contacted me. They had come across my blog and liked the illustration of the city skyline, drawn from a particularly unusual vantage point. They asked if they could use the image printed in large format, as wallpaper in their new Rooftop Suite. Of course I was delighted and so it all went ahead as you can see above.
You can visit them here to see all three new suites.

Ripple

The Illustration Friday theme 'Ripple' has been suggested by Kelly Light who has the great idea of raising money for creatures affected by the oil spill. You can buy artist's cards for a donation of $10 to charitable causes - see her website for details.
I've chosen to draw the Great American Egret one of the beautiful birds that may be affected.
When I last looked she had raised over $1000 - see what a ripple can do.
KELLY HAS NOW HELPED RAISE OVER $3000  $4000 $7,400

Sunshine amongst greyness

It has been continually grey and dull here recently but there have been rays of sunshine in the form of Art Exchange envelopes coming through my letterbox. Thanks for making my day to Mandy, Flora and Buel. Not only have I received these wonderful illustrations but I now have their blogs to inspire me too. So go and have a peek, you'll be glad you did.

The Ripple Effect

My first blog is a lot more daunting than anticipated - what to write? I've become obsessed with blogs as recently I've come across so many wonderful ones that have inspired me. They definitely cause a ripple effect, one leads to another, that one to another etc. - just think how many people are being inspired to be creative. My favourite one at the moment and the one that gave me the impetus to start this is print and pattern - pages and pages of great patterns put together from stores and designers, I could look at it all day!

I work from home which is great but quite anti-social - a week can go by & I realise that I have not spoken to anyone face-to-face except my partner, Gray and if I go outside I feel quite faint with the rush of fresh air! So the network & support of fellow bloggers that I see on some sites appeals to me.

I had a lovely day yesterday, the weather was cold, wet and windy so I lit a fire and lazed by it all afternoon. I found some chocolates I'd bought on Valentines Day in one of my favourite shops in Arundel, Sparks Yard, they were in a cupboard and I'd obviously forgotten all about them, they looked so pretty that I photographed them, drew them & then ate them while toasting my feet by the fire.
