I've been a fan of Keri Smith for ages and received her book 'How to be an explorer of the World' for Christmas. This is the result of Exploration #48 - quick sketches documenting different compositions and in doing this I've realised my instinct is to search for pattern & texture.© 2009 nicky linzey for Illustration Friday

I love books that inspire...great post!
love love love your style!
this is really lovely - looks like you really enjoyed yourself
I like it. Fun to play with and try to figure the out. I enjoyed that you shared your instincts. Splendid as usual. Have a wonderful weekend with your new treasures :)
And what a lovely instinct that is, too! Fabulous, as always. You've made me appreciate the little microcosms of art that surround me.
And congrats on your fantastic wins! Wahoooo!
The patterns and textures you chose are very beautiful, especially the way you've colored and composed each tile. Really lovely:>
I just bought that keri smith book recently too! You've inspired me to USE it! Your piece is great and I love how you've put them all together compositionally - they almost remind me of fabric patterns - great to meet you through IF!
Really lovely, I seldom dabble with this type of book, so your post and little pieces here have inspired me so much to look up further into the books in this category.
Keri Smith's works are great. Now I also is a fan of him....and I have been a fan of you since I knew the existence of your blog.
I hope one day I will receive a texture & print book from you, could it be my instinct!
sounds like a great book, I will have to check it out. I like your "snapshots" from daily life and the limited pallete
Nice!
I like these non-saturated colors and the textures.
