This is lovely - especially with the moody colouring! Of course I also know this in a different guise from my little 'by the sea' book! Am rather sad that a couple of page corners recently suffered from a little water damage from my leaking airconditioner :( so now I've put it well out of harm's way. Hopefully will get to say Hi when I come back to UK - Jan retires next year and we plan to set up home somewhere there!
As a Dutch person I understand this 'swell' perfectly. Just before a storm the clouds turn darker and the water reflects the greyish and purplish mood. The gulls become restless and everything tells you that a harbour is the safest option. However, if you stay out a bit longer you observe your drawing: a wild sea. Beautifully done.

Nice illo! Marvelous lines, color, and pattern--VERY evocative of SWELL(S).

Professional and moody. Like it very much.
Always better late than never! Lovely and stormy - your seagulls seem to be enjoying that.

I live right by the ocean, and this illustration is just magnificent! This is what our sea looks like on a grey, stormy day.
